Cooper is suspended
25 May 2012 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

It is three days since Laura's killer, her father Leland Palmer, was arrested for her murder then died and Agent Cooper is getting ready to leave Twin Peaks; first he plans to go night fishing with Major Briggs. Before he can do that however he finds himself suspended from the FBI after a complaint from the RMCP about his raid into One Eyed Jacks to rescue Audrey Horne... it looks as though he will be in Twin Peaks a little longer than planned. Things look even worse for Cooper when we see Jean Renault and the Mountie discussing a plot to frame Cooper with involvement in the drug trade. Despite his problems he doesn't cancel his fishing trip; while sitting around the fire Major Briggs mentions something called The White Lodge; he intended to say more after Cooper returned from answering a call of nature but when Cooper returns the major is nowhere to be seen.

I had feared that things would be considerably less interesting once Laura's killer had been exposed but their was plenty to enjoy here; clearly the events at One Eyed Jacks are going to have repercussions and the mysterious White Lodge mentioned by the major will no doubt need to be explored in later episodes. Away from Cooper's problems it was interesting to learn that the mystery food critic everybody feared was in fact Norma's mother and Nadine's strange behaviour and amazing strength provided a laugh when she threw the school boy a vast distance through the air. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with this episode; it isn't the best of the series but it did show that it still has something interesting to say after the mystery of Laura's death was solved.
