Same Old, Same Old
Hitchcoc10 July 2017
It's your basic ghost story where a guy gets killed and then comes back to help his friend. The friend, in this case, has terminal cancer and is having a rough time. The two are in a hot car and go to a raceway and try for one last lap. In the process, Marco, the friend, crashes the car, breaking his own neck. What is weird is that the cancer guy no longer has the disease. He resumes his life but finds that family and friends aren't all that concerned over the death of the friend. Of course, our hero gets visited by the guy (of course, only he can see him). There is nothing new or striking about this. The ending does nothing to save things.

Lap it up!
kapelusznik1820 October 2015
***SPOILERS*** Suffering from a case of terminal cancer and about to kick off for good Andy Perez, Clifton Collins Jr., and his friend Marco Flores, Greg Scrano, decide to take one last ride-For Andy- on Marco's hopped up jalopy and go out in style. As it turns out after the car that their on crashes in flames it's the healthy as a ox Marco not the one his death-bed Andy who ends up in the city morgue! It fact the accident has Andy fully recover from his terminal cancer! With Andy feeling down in the dumps in that his good friend Marco being dead he sees all of Marco's friends and family members including Andy's sister and the late Marco's girlfriend Jami, Merdedes del la Zerda, not morning him at all and acting as if he isn't dead at all!

There's also the fact that Marco seems to have come back from the dead and is only seen by Andy who tells him not to worry that all is well for him in the world beyond! At first freaking out Andy soon starts to realize that there's something to this strange behavior on Marco's friends and family members and maybe its because they all feel that Marco's is in a better place now being dead then when he was alive! The fact is that Andy has the situation all backwards and when he attend Marco's funeral, with Marco popping up out of his coffin, that the truth finally hits him.

***SPOILERS*** As were shown in this "New Twilight Zone" episode that death isn't all that bad if you, the guy that's dead, sees it for what it really is. Andy who's terminal cancer suddenly disappeared with his friend Marco's death didn't realize that's, Marco's death, was what cured him. Not in the fact that Marco died but that he***MAJOR SPOILER***"lived" to see what really happened. And what happened is what convinced a confused Andy that Marco wasn't really dead in the way he thought that he was! And that death wasn't all that bad at all but only a new beginning when it came to himself!

"It's just death, man. No big deal."

Warning: Spoilers
I agree with reviewer 'planktonrules' on this one. This story twists itself into a pretzel to come up with an ending that makes sense, but it's forced and seems to run contrary to prior events in the story. It's almost as if Andy Perez (Clifton Collins Jr.) is the ghost in the program instead of his friend Marco (Greg Serano) who died in the car crash. It might have made more sense if Marco's friends and family had shown some sorrow over his passing, but they treated it as no big thing. Which would have been okay if some time had passed since the accident that took Marco's life, but the funeral was the very next day and there were no tears to be seen by those close to him. Rerunning the race course was a way to close the loop on Andy's terminal cancer, but it was a convoluted way to bring it to an end.

When I had cancer, I should have gotten in a few car accidents.

Andy is dying from cancer and his friend, Marco, is taking him for one final thrill...racing on a race course in his Trans Am. However, somethings unexpected occur. There is an accident and Marco is killed and, inexplicably, Andy has no cancer any more. However, after the death of Marco, Marco comes back several times to talk with Andy and to tell him everything is just fine. And then there's a twist.

Sometimes episodes don't make a ton of sense...and this is one of those. You can't just undo story problems on a big twist at the end...which seems like what they did. I think with a bit of a re-write this could have been a very good episode. Instead, sadly, it just seems trite.

Cheesy and Predicable

Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler alart. A guy is sad because his friend died. Later on we discover that he is actually dead. That's the twist of the episode. They took that from the "Sixth Sense", that was aired only 3 years before this episode. So what's the point? They just took other people's idea....

fast and the plagiarized

This was made when Fast And The Furious was getting ripped off by everyone as it was so popular. Surprisingly this movie was "drifting" before the third film. Who would have thunk it.

The sets are minimalistic. The car is like a wish website knock off. The same color scheme pretty much as Paul Walker's car at least the way I remember it.

The acting is the only thing saving this from a solid 1 star as zeroes cannot be given. These characters can act circles around Vin Diesel. It's subjective which sister is prettier especially since Michelle was not "all that" in the first movie so kudos to the makeup department in future films and projects she's been in. The ending twist was weak and this just seems like something a 13 year old would have to write in an English class where the kid put as little effort in it as possible. If I was a teacher I'd give this an F.
