Barbara Polk takes care of her elderly and mean-spirited uncle Simon. He is a scientist who spends much of his time in his basement laboratory but when he's not there, he seems to take great pleasure in demeaning his niece. She can't wait for him to die and doesn't hesitate to tell him so. When he does die, things are... not quite what she expected.
Caregiver Barbara Polk receives a surprise after her uncle's death.
- Barbara Polk lives with her aged and overbearing Uncle, of which she is his only heir. Barbara constantly deals with her Uncle's incessant requests and demands, which usually involve him insulting her intelligence. One day, unable to stand it any longer, Barbara murders her Uncle.
However, a stipulation in Simon's will says that Barbara must look after the old man's latest invention- a robot in the basement. After activating the robot, it begins to learn and develop certain parts of it's programming. It begins soon to crave hot chocolate like Uncle Simon, and at one point, hoping to quell it like her Uncle, Barbara attempts to murder it, but in vain.
Eventually, the robot assumes all the traits of Simon, including the incessant quips and insults that Barbara must now deal with, unable to find peace even in the death of her Uncle.
