Col. Gallagher is shot down over Germany, and is captured and severely interrogated by the Nazis. Quite unexpectedly, he is rescued by a group of Germans who have devised an elaborate plan to kill Hitler and seize control of the government for the purpose of negotiating a surrender to the Allies. In order to carry out their plot, however, they will need to convince the Allied leaders of their sincerity and garner support. The leader of the conspirators, Admiral von Kreuter, believes that if Gallagher flies him to England, it will bolster his chances of winning the cooperation he needs. (at around 30 mins) Father Berthold tells Col Gallagher of a Heinkel P3, registration KY-54DA, that he can use to escape. At about 39:05, Col von Datz contacts the Luftwaffe Signals Centre and cites it as KY-54AD (not DA). At 40:10, a Luftwaffe pilot has been sent to investigate, and hails the aircraft using the original designation KY-54DA. See more
