This is one of the best "Tru Calling" episodes up to this point, for several reasons: it is gripping right from the first seconds; it is particularly well-directed by David Solomon (I loved the little forewarning about the woman that would eventually ask for Tru's help, as well as the later "bullet shot"); it has plenty of twists; it develops the on-going story of the show by having Harrison (whose scenes are the only relief from the tension here) finally believing in Tru's powers; and it shows that the writers are willing to play around with the different concepts of time traveling, throwing a bit of "course correction" to the mix: the subplot of Meredith's "appointment" with a drug dealer plays out in two different ways, but in both she ends up with a wound on her cheek. Jessica Collins gives her finest performance so far, especially in her phone call to Tru at the end. *** out of 4.
