Watch it, but don't expect to be amazed.

The one other review in here was wondering why this was the lowest rated episode of them all. When I came in here, I hoped that would be the case and I was not disappointed. I have been binge watching this entire series and I have been very amazed and thrilled that they had never seen fit to do one of those episodes where all they do is show flashbacks from previous episodes to try to tell someone a broader story.

I have always hated that gimmick of every other TV show in history, and they finally went and did it here!!! They jumped the shark!! Alas, what a tragedy.

It still had a moment or three, but ultimately I gave it a 5, which is the lowest I'm willing to go because there is no truly BAD episode of this series. I was pleasantly surprised to see that eight (8) people had rated it a 1, so that was good enough for me.

Don't skip it if you are watching all of them. Just don't expect to be truly amazed in the way that is typical for this series. Even the best of the best can have an off night. ;-)

Pretty good! Did Irene save "Promise Land" script?

I'm pretty shocked at the low ratings for this episode actually. I've seen some other episodes that are far worse and painful to sit through. Like when Monica became an elderly Angel; it had me shocked it even made air. I enjoyed this episode because it reminds me of myself. When Touched by an Angel was originally on the air, I never watched it because I thought it was boring and I was more in tune with the more trendy shows on air at the time. Now that I am an adult ready to be a grandparent, I can't stop binge watching Touched by an Angel. I'm watching it in order and It's my absolute favorite show now. It saddens me that there can never be an all original cast reunion movie or reboot because the actors that played Tess, Andrew, and Sam has died. Such a wonderful feel good show.

Also, I think the hit script in this episode that Mr McKenna wrote, which Irene saved away for him, "...about a family, nothing exciting...just good people... trying to live right", I think it was about the Touched by an Angel spin-off that was called "Promised Land" starring Gerald McRaney. That show was in its final episodes unfortunately when this one aired. Monica responds to Mr. McKenna, "God liked your script". It felt like a very touching Easter egg to Promise Land. She helped remind him that all those other trashy shows got canceled and to believe in his wholesome script writing.

Good Episode Despite Low Rating Number
nanckou24 May 2021
I can't understand why this is the lowest rated episode, by far, of the entire series. I have seen, and enjoyed, nearly all of them, and I thought it was as good as most of them, and better than some. Maybe some didn't care for the many flashbacks employed in the story, but I thought the frame was solid and stood well on its own. If you haven't seen it, don't let that low rating number discourage you.
