The comedy segment was questions from the audience. Elizabeth Taylor made her first appearance on The Tonight Show. She congratulated Johnny on 30 years. She talked about her upcoming 60th birthday and how much she survived in life. She and Johnny joked about marriage and the number of unions they have been in. Taylor then discussed her reluctance to perform with a live audience, as opposed to a camera, and said that is why she had not done the show earlier. Johnny asked about her friendship with Michael Jackson, she said they actually have a lot in common having started young and not had a real childhood. She told how she learned the value of herself as a commodity when, at age 15, she told off Louis B. Mayer (and refused to apologize) but wasn't fired. When asked the most exciting gift she received she said the studio gave her the horse from National Velvet. She kept it until it died. MD met Taylor and Richard Burton at age 13.
