Googie Withers has a secret ...
Another piece from the archives, this John Mortimer play teams veteran actress Googie Withers as a Knightsbridge lady of leisure with Angela Scoular as her daughter and Donald Churchill as her daughter's intended, a TV interviewer.
While waiting for Mother to return home, her daughter discovers she has a secret life ... but what is it? Cue some marvellous double-entendres, misunderstanding (beautifully played by Churchill and Withers), and a satisfying twist ending.
Viewers will enjoy this one, especially Withers' icy persona, Churchill's ripe innuendos, and Scoular's hysteria. And if you ever wondered about ladies' double-fronted chests, this is the play for you.
