- Kelso wants to buy Hippie Leo's El Camino but doesn't have the $500. Hyde and Kelso found the car in Leo's garage underneath all the junk; Jackie lends him the money if he becomes her slave for a week.
Donna gets a job at the local radio with Max (Howard Hesseman). Bob used to advertise his business on Max's radio station. But now, Bob asks Max for a job, but Max is looking for an office girl and Donna jumps in. Donna has a job sorting records and Jerry (the host of the show called "The Sound") gives her concert tickets and bumper stickers for free. Jerry asks her live on air, if she has a boyfriend and Max tells her to say "No". Max explains that it is for the ratings. Max says that they are selling an image and an available image is far better for the ratings.
She is presented as 'hot Donna without a boyfriend', which Eric finds hard to swallow, till he meets the unsightly DJ Jerry Thunder. Hyde says that Donna didn't acknowledge Eric as her boyfriend as she is probably ashamed of him. Hyde paints a mental picture to Eric saying that soon she will be humping rock stars in their vans. Eric imagines Donna will break up with him once she meets rock legend Alice Cooper. Jackie tries to set up Eric with her friend fat Sally. Eric hasn't seen Donna for 2 days as she has been spending all her time at the radio station.
Kitty speaks to Eric and tells him how Red punched a doctor at the hospital (back when they weren't married), as he thought that one of the doctors was hitting on Kitty. Kitty says that was embarrassing and wants Eric to trust Donna. But Eric decides to fight instead as he believes that what Red did was cool and he was marking his territory. And Kitty did end up marrying Red. Eric shows up to the studio to challenge Jerry but backs off when he sees that Jerry is a midget. Donna says that Eric should get it that Donna has something in her life right now that is really important to her. Eric needs to be able to handle it.
Red eats at a fast-food diner and complains about the food quality to the manager. Turns out the cook is Earl, the price mart employee that Red fired not too long ago. Due to Red's complaint the manager of the diner fires Earl once again. Red and Kitty are confronted with the bitterness of Earl since Red got Earl fired from his new job as well. Earl blames Red for being fired and puts him off his Christmas card list. Kitty is upset as she used to like Earl's handmade Christmas cards. Kitty starts serving burnt burgers to Red, daring him to fire her as well. Red is guilt ridden and withdraws his complaint to get Earl his job back, but he won't go as he has to feed his dog or something.
At the last moment, Leo says he can't sell the car as he promised it to his son for his 16th birthday. His ex-wife took custody of his son and left Leo all alone. He gives the car to Hyde. Hyde is the son that Leo never had.
