Storyline

Elizabeth kills her husband because she wants to be with her young lover Ray - who, incidentally, helped in the murder - but she feels insecure because of the age gap and so she has a face lift, as well as taking part in an exhaustive exercise regime to help her keep her figure. And then, one day, she sees a flyer, recommending an anti-ageing process known as the Gift of Beauty. Is this really the answer to her prayers, or is it a means to an end in punishing a guilty woman? Quite sinister, dark and rather surprising.

Elizabeth Farrow has suffered a sad loss, the death of her husband. However, all is not as it seems, at the funeral of her recently departed beloved, she hands the key to her apartment to her handsome young lover, Ray. There is an age gap between Elizabeth and Ray, Elizabeth, a former model, suffers the insecurities that come with age, she fears surgery, he suggests a new treatment, 'the gift of beauty,' an anti ageing process, which she declines. Elizabeth is put through a rigorous training regime, worn out she finally agrees to call in the lady from 'Gift of Beauty.'

I'll be honest, the recent batch of U.S. made entries in the series have been utterly dire, this has been a definite turn for the better, more subtle, better made, and better acted, Carol Lynley is a noted performer and I thought she put in a decent shift here.

It is a little padded out, considering it's only 25 minutes long, they sure as hell put in enough overlong shots. Although it does boast some rather dark and twisted moments, a much better episode overall.

6/10
