Walt Corbin killed a 20 year old Wells Fargo employee during a holdup and he is about to go on trial for it. Jim Hardie has been sent to ensure the trial goes off without any problems and to help the local Sheriff. Corbin himself is sure he will get off as the two witnesses against him are local farmers who he is sure can be stopped by his gang. After talking with the Sheriff and Corbin, Jim decides to ride out to talk to the two witnesses to check on them. As he walks up to the first house shots ring out and the first witness is killed. He chases the killer for ten miles to a saloon where he is forced to kill the shooter. The second witness, Chris Matson, tells Hardie he won't testify. Unknown to Jim, two men from Corbin's gang are inside with Matson's wife.
