That he double crossed at the stage coach robbery & shot & left for dead suddenly trusts him not to do the same thing & ends up getting shot by hardy in the end anyway. And also how the mastermind hides his gun in wood bucket near door was supposed to be this great back up plan . Also in the beginning why would a Ruthless, criminal let the stage driver coach live?
And just ride away especially him being a witness. Also the women Wearing the blonde wig as a disguise, and that hardy would not expect that she was a phony.
