Boring two-hander

AULD ACQUAINTANCES is the story of pair of rival witches whose hostility towards each other travels down throughout the centuries. The story is saddled with a typically lacklustre script from Edithe Swensen, who fails to breathe new life into very old tropes and ideas, leaving this an episode that's lacking in the extreme.

The paucity of the budget for the average episode of TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE is much in evidence here. Things take place on a single, cheap-looking set and the viewer is saddled with a couple of distinctly average actresses for the entire running time. I can see what they were trying to emulate - something of the histrionic cat-fighting between Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? - but it doesn't come off.
