1980s Sarcasm
3 June 2007 | by (Valencia, Spain) – See all my reviews

The only interesting thing about this episode is Tim Roth. The rest of the cast is right out of Facts of Life or some other late 1980s bubble gum show. Sure, this episode was filmed in 1991, but it has 1980s written all over it! Imagine seeing Mr. Belvedere in The Twilight Zone? Well that is how this episode feels. The interesting thing about watching this old show now is seeing many of those faces that were regular character actors in that era. Where are they now? What happened to them? Roth was around twenty years old at the time this episode was filmed, and he is the only one who ever made it.

The plot is not very original, and it is played without any special twist. The most entertaining moment comes when the old tenant tells Roth to go buy her some beer, and then she makes some sarcastic remarks about his artistic abilities. The next scene she is bouncing down the stairwell. The point of view is from below looking up, which was done very well. Most of the time the shot is from above looking down on the body as it bounces off the steps.

The sarcastic tone of this episode is further accentuated when Roth tries to save his girlfriend's life by selling his death art in exchange for the money that the hospital wants. Overall, this is an interesting episode to watch. It is not great, but it is weird enough to be memorable.
