- The Crypt Keeper is going to talk about one of life's little pleasures: death: he is going to tell the story of a man who died several times and used to profit from it.
At a fair, a miracle of resurrection is going to be performed. Ulric (Joe Pantoliano) is going to be buried alive at midnight. That man says that when he is dug out, he will be dead, but that he won't stay like that for a long time. Some years ago, a young drifter/tramp is approached by a mad scientist. He wants to give him the glands of a common cat so that Ulric will have nine lives, like the cat. The tramp refuses at first, but then he consents. The surgery is performed, and everything looks to have worked perfectly. The tramp asks how he can be sure that it really worked, so the scientist shoots him with a gun. The tramp dies, but some minutes afterwards, he comes back to life again, shouting. The tramp asks for his money, but the scientist tells him that his new power could make them both millionaires.
The scientist, Dr Emil Manfred (Gustav Vintas), convinces a fair master called Barker (Robert Wuhl) to let them showcase their show. Ulric drowns himself in front of an audience, and a stupid blonde girl, Coralee (Kathleen York), tells him that they can have a date right after he wakes up again. A doctor declares that Ulric is dead 45 minutes later. However, as it takes too long for Ulric to resurrect, all the audience has already left. However, after the resurrection has taken place, he asks Coralee for her telephone number, and the audience comes back to cheer him.
The next time, Ulric is hanged. Coralee and Ulric are in love. Ulric wants a bigger share of the profits. What marvels Dr,. Manfred more is that Ulric's body seems to fix itself, no matter the ugly way he dies. One night, Ulric drives on purpose his car to have a terrible car accident, killing Doc with him. Unlike Ulric Doc won't come back to life again.
Soon, Ulric gets electrocuted by a winning ticket holder, a nice elderly lady (Dorothy Ulmann) who has the time of her life pulling the plug on. Some resurrections take longer than others, so it's not until Ulric is at the coroner's surgery table that he comes back to life. All the press is there. Ulric says that he's prepared special arrangements so that nobody can touch him after he dies.
Next time, a volunteer (Jack OLeary) from the public shoots an arrow at him. As usual, Coralee and the ringmaster are there to make the crowd wild. Coralee pays off a police officer (Paul Tuerpe) so that he doesn't take Ulric's body away, who mentions that a payoff is a year's worth of his salary.
Later Coralee and Ulric are counting the money in his trailer. Suddenly Coralee kills Ulric and runs away with all those brand-new bills. As usual, Ulric resurrects soon afterwards. To make up for the lost money Ulric is going to get 100% of the profits of the 9th time he is going to die.
Back inside his coffin Ulric laughs and says that all that money came to him because the cat died. At that moment, Ulric realizes that the cat died, leaving him only 8 more lives to live. He panics and starts screaming. Two gravediggers (Rick Zumwalt & Al Maines) hear the screams, but they think it's a black cat which is jumping around, so they leave. Ulric chokes to death inside the coffin, this time forever.
The Crypt Keeper caresses the black cat.
