Walpurgis Night murder
3 January 2007 | by (Port Stephens, Australia) – See all my reviews

James Martin is murdered on Walpurgis night with a chainsaw that involves witch-craft and Satanism. Detective Bill Scott investigates his last case but is unsuccessful in bringing the prime suspect to justice. At his retirement party he collapses and asks Taggart to do what he could not - convict the victim's son of the fathers killing.

Jackie Reid is asked to go undercover in an effort to find incriminating evidence when a previous girlfriend claims Gregg Martin confessed to her. Unfortunately the policewoman falls for his charms and believes him to be innocent of all charges.

On Halloween night Donald Brodie is brutally murdered in his shop. He is a Satanist with links to the James Martins widow - Lavinia Martin, played brilliantly by Isla Blair.

Colin McCredie makes his second appearance in the series. This time as Sandy, a farm hand who gets caught up in strange initiation rites.

This is a pedestrian episode of Taggart. Unfortunately the main character Mark McManus would tragically die in real life, leaving the series without its heart and soul.

Watch it if you are fan. I enjoyed it.
