TJ Hooker, Dirty Harry style
27 October 2012 | by See all my reviews

Action-packed episode is the closest knock-off of "Dirty Harry" of the series (the Hooker character often compared with Dirty Harry Callahan), with the abduction scene in which Callahan (here Shatner) is run all over San Fransisco by Scorpio, re-created here in LA with villain John Davis Chandler luring his prey to a cemetery where he's holding a nine year old girl for ransom. Mrs Shatner Marcy Lafferty is again on hand, this time as a clairvoyant with whom Shatner partners, while the usual sidekicks James Darren and Heather Locklear have very minor roles in support.

There's a couple of good car chases and stunts as Mr and Mrs Shatner jump in and out of blazing wrecks, while crazy-eyed Chandler is a particularly nasty villain. Also featuring is veteran tough guy Bruce Glover as a heavy and Buck Taylor playing the abducted girl's father, forced to try an raise $30k for her safe release. David Hooks is another familiar face, the white knight to whom Shatner appeals for financial assistance. Nothing remarkable, but definitely watchable episode with a capable cast and plenty of exteriors.
