In a 2012 interview, Christopher Plummer revealed that the live performance was stalled when he was unable to find a door through which to enter for the suicide pact scene, owing to the small budget and lack of lights backstage. He finally entered through the fireplace, much to the ire of director Martin Manulis, who "blew a gasket" and yelled at Plummer, who shot back "you're fucking lucky I came out of anything!"
