User Reviews

A minor but not senseless episode.

It's a sort of DESPERATE HOURS scheme we find here. A physician and his family are taken as hostages by some gangsters, one wounded by fire arms. Hume Cronyn plays here the villain, the character Bogart gave us several years later in William Wyler's film. A real convincing heavy, as strong as the one Cronin had in Jules Dassin's BRUTE FORCE, where he played the sadistic, fierce warden; remember when he tortured prisoners while listening Wagner !!!

Speaking of Cronin, note that he could play bad guys only when he was young. Because when he got older, he would not be able to do it again. He stayed a good actor, but only for other kinds of characters. Mostly with his real life wife, Jessica Tandy. These two often played elder characters in lots of films, and TV mostly...

Back to this episode, it's not the best SUSPENSE episode ever. Nothing to do with ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS ones, with their very exciting twist endings...
