Superboy: The Jewel of Techacal
Scarecrow-8828 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Professor Thomas Lang (Peter White) and his assistant return from an expedition, where a precious jewel was found, choosing the location for the museum based on his daughter's going to school in the town it is located. It just so happens that the archeologist's daughter is Lana Lang (Stacy Haiduk). When Lex Luthor (Scott Wells, laying on the smarmy thick) eyes the jewel, Superboy (John Newton) will need to intervene because Lana's father is gradually dying in a hospitalÂ…the jewel itself seems to have a curse on it, with the professor suffering its effects. Superboy will need to gather up the jewel and return it to where it came from.

The Superboy show didn't exactly have a lot of budget for its special effects, most of which has Newton, in his Superman costume (Newton is not a boy; he has the physique of a man, even if the show saw him as a kid), flying up to a plane to unlock a tire caught and aiming towards Luthor in his convertible (Luthor stole the jewel for his own use) to retrieve the jewel so it can be taken away to safety. That is about all the action, except a collapse in the museum room (quite a cheaply decorated set) due to a "shockwave" caused by the jewel's curse.

Pretty much all I did was lust for Haiduk when she's on screen, so the rest of the episode is rather a blur. Anyway, she is sore at pops because he was often away on some archaeological dig, but when his health is threatened, it all changes her feelings towards him. Superboy will make sure it all turns out okay.

With James Calvert as pal of Clark Kent and Lana, Michael Manno as Luthor's dimbulb yes man, and Gregg Todd Davis as Thomas' assistant who believes they made a mistake bringing back the jewel from its burial place.
