When Paul meets with the banker, the banker tells him to "put his John Henry" on the contract, as he's asking him to sign the loan paperwork. He should have said "put his John Hancock" on the paperwork. John Hancock is typically used as slang when someone is signing paperwork, and is in homage to John Hancock, the president of the Continental Congress, and first signer of the Declaration of Independence, who signed his signature four times the size of everyone else because he wanted "King George to be able to read it in England." John Henry refers to a mythological railroad worker who won a contest against a steam-driven rail spiker. But, died with his hammer in his hand after his heart gave out. See more
