A hand injury forces Stoney to drop out of competition, and he is then offered a new job helping to purchase and deliver horses to take to the slaughterhouse. Very reluctantly, he accepts, but soon wishes he hadn't.

Storyline

Unfolding like a morality play, Stoney, injured, is tempted by Peter Mark Richman to leave the rodeo and become a buyer for a horse meat rendering company. Richman as a terrifically sinister devil's henchman lures Stoney, broke, his parents in need of money, to drive the horse that hurt him along with 15 other horses to the factory/hell. There is even a dry river Styx with its own armed gatekeeper Charon who collects tolls and keep out those who don't belong. Richman refuses to pay for Robert Dowdell and Bill Hart (Cody Bristol and Red) who stay behind. Across the river, alone, Stoney meets the devil himself, Dean Harens, who, far less sinister than Richman seems miscast. Harens wants Stoney's soul and tells Richman to "get him." They want Stoney to cut Megaton the horse that hurt him, from the herd and lead him to slaughter at the head of the line.
