Pride comes before a fall.

Harold isn't bringing home the bacon, so Albert decides to take on a lodger, Harold is not impressed by the suggestion. .

It's a sour episode, I wouldn't call it vintage, but it does have some fun moments. The pair are on top form, as they play out a simple, but effective scenario, they bicker and argue the whole way through it. What's funny is how the pair know just how to get under each other's skin with precision and ease.

The card in the shop window is the funniest scene, it is funny watching the pair try and get one up on the other.

It isn't hugely memorable, but it is funny. 7/10.

The Lodger

It looks like Albert has spent all his winnings from the premium bonds as the Steptoes are skint. Harold has done some budgeting and they have little by way of assets, Albert wants to advertise for a lodger with Harold moving into Albert's room.

It is too much for Harold as Albert puts up an advert at the newsagents, Harold promptly has it removed. At one point Harold gets a new job in advertising, he becomes a sandwich board man.

Eventually both father and son realise that they are better off together. The episode came across as one of the weaker ones and did not really work for me. Too much bickering and then getting one up on each other.
