Lt. Rod Blake: Oh, hello. I'm Rod Blake, chief investigator for the Nevada state troopers. This is a list of hotels. It's part of a chain that stretched from Maine to California. You won't find them in the Auto Club's recommended list. The chances are you don't know anyone that ever stayed at one of them. Memory Ranch, Lafitte's Lair, Deep Six - those are the names of a few of them. I'll be back to tell you about another one in a case we call, "312 Vertical".
[Blake, pretending to be a wanted bank robber, is hiding out in a hotel for criminals]
Lt. Rod Blake: Ah, quite a place. All the comforts of home.
Ann: Well, that depends on what you're used to.
Lt. Rod Blake: Whatever I can get, honey.
[Ed puts his arms on Ann's shoulders]
Ed Grimes: Provided it isn't already taken you mean.
Beverly: I found him upstairs, Lieutenant, on the telephone. He was just calling the other hotels.
Lt. Rod Blake: I'm sorry to break the chain, Mr. Daley. This time it's your bad luck.
Ross Daley: It'll take me a long time to forget you.
Lt. Rod Blake: Time? We'll try to see you have all the time you want.
