Goofs

Early in the show when Starsky and Hutch are walking on the docks, a truck tries to run them over and they dive out of the way between a large dark sedan and their Torino. In the next shot of the two, the Torino is gone, and Hutch runs off after the truck, running right through where the Torino would have been parked. See more »

Quotes

Ezra Beam: [Showing off his gaudy "church," filled with faux-pagan decor] Well, how do you like the way I converted the old pad?
Det. Ken 'Hutch' Hutchinson: Yeah, it's, uh, real nice. Gotta lot of class, Ezra. Who's your decorator - Vincent Price?

Hutch is giving away the bride, a friend from his youth, at her upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, the groom is quickly becoming the prime suspect in a series of thefts at the shipping docks, where he and his intended both work. Starsky and Hutch's mission is to solve the case before the wedding bells ring.

This is a perfectly fine Season 1 episode. It has all of the elements needed for a good show. It might have been more suspenseful to keep the audience guessing a bit on whether the groom was involved, instead of cluing us in right away, but otherwise the story goes together pretty well. (Starsky and Hutch manage to solve this case in a couple days, when another cop had worked on it for six months. Dobey may as well fire everybody else.)

There are no stand-out scenes, but I do like the conversation when Starsky reveals to Hutch that he suspects the groom is involved. Hutch is not happy or convinced, but he doesn't tell Starsky that he's wrong. They have learned to trust each other's instincts.

There can't always be a happy ending, but we'll take another successful conclusion.
