Master Bra'tac arrives with bad news: Teal'c's wife is deathly ill, and Teal'c leaves to be with her. Shortly thereafter, the gate is opened but nothing comes through. Then Carter discovers a very low power signal that is slowly building an overload powerful enough to destroy the Earth.

Storyline

O'Neill is still searching for Daniel Jackson's replacement, but is having little success. The Russian liaison officer thinks one of his countrymen should be given the opportunity but neither O'Neill or General agree with that. Jonas Quinn suggests to Carter that he would be a good replacement and she agrees but O'Neill again says no. Jonas does tag along however to Area 51 where they view the newest addition to their arsenal, an X302 fighter that should be able to travel through hyperspace. Meanwhile, Master Bra'tac arrives at Stargate Command to tell Teal'c that his wife is seriously ill. They set off but when they try to return to SGC they are unable top dial in and with good reason: SGC is under attack by Anubis. Written by garykmcd

Goofs

When Carter calls up the Gate diagnostics, she asks for a 50% then a 200% increase. This adds up to 450% of normal yet the screen shows 'X200' or 200 times (19900%) of normal. See more »

Quotes

Jonas Quinn: [walking with Carter] Still, I'm usually much better at reading people.
Colonel Chekov: [walks up angrily] Major! Why was I not informed about the X-302?
Jonas Quinn: For example, it might not be that obvious to everyone, but this man is actually very upset.

Stargate NASA adventure!
30 July 2012 | by (Jersey City) – See all my reviews

A two-part season-opener that actually grips the chest. Anubis has found a way to destroy Earth by sending a resonant energy pulse through the stargate. They have two days to find a solution. Rodney McKay and Jonas Quinn (Corin Nemec) help Sam. It ends with a fantastic NASA adventure, in which just about everything goes realistically wrong, with Jack flying an experimental, overburdened spacecraft into the atmosphere, trying to open a hyperspace window in which to drop the stargate. Teal'c is off-world after the death of his wife, and leads an attack on Anubis' weapon, with his underage son. Finally, the world saved, Jack accepts Jonas into SG1. That part's a little contrived, but Nemec is pleasant enough. Also enjoy a lil' Aaron Douglas (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) as a despicable jaffa.
