Storyline

Voyager has set a course for home, repairs are underway, and it's time to pick personnel to fill vital crew positions. Tempers are turbulent as the Starfleet crew absorbs the undisciplined Maquis. Neelix finds his place as chef and Kes builds the airponics bay. Paris does double duty as Conn Officer and Field Medic. Chakotay recommends Torres for Chief Engineer, but Janeway isn't convinced she can exhibit the professionalism of a Starfleet officer. All must put opinions aside when Voyager mounts a rescue of a ship caught in a quantum singularity, only to find the ship in distress is Voyager itself. Written by Meribor

Goofs

When chastising Torres for her fight with a human crewman in Engineering, Chakotay said that she was fortunate she had not hit him in the face harder because the impact could have driven nasal bones into the cerebellum. This is not possible because the cerebellum is just above the brain stem in the skull's most distant location from the nasal bones. It is however possible to cause death if these same bones are driven into positions of the brain's "cerebrum," which regulate important body functions. See more »

Silly mistake

Great episode as usual but I must point out that Lieutenant Carey should have been chief engineer. He's older, more experienced, he's a FULL lieutenant and he's actually IN Starfleet. Torres has a PROVISIONAL rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade so is lower rank than Carey, she's not IN star fleet, is younger, is a criminal and PUNCHED Lt. Carey! Only a fool would put her in charge. Stupid stupid stupid. Captain Janeway sucking up to the Maquis. I'd have left them on a planet to ROT. Criminals. They made their choice. I have to type more as the minimum length is ten lines you see which makes it annoying to post comments as I have to think of more stuff to write which is a really boring thing to do.
