While searching for Dilithium with Nelix and 7 of 9, Ensign Kim takes command of an alien medical ship., 1 May 2007

This episode of Voyager explores the want for ensign Kim to gain more
experience in a command situation. While on the seven year journey Kim
has had many episodes surrounding his character, but this is the first
time he actually takes command of a vessel, although it is not Voyager
or another Federation ship. In the beginning of Voyager, ensign Kim's
acting was suspect at best, but if you compare a later episode like
this one to one of his early ones there is a definite difference in the
quality of his acting. More specifically, in this episode he faces the
weight of commanding a ship and other obstacles that his character may
have not dealt with in the previous six seasons.
