After successfully responding to a Romulan vessel's engine failure distress call, Riker's Enterprise rescue team looses all traces of Geordi and Ensign Ro Laren while they beam back aboard; Data ponders on an appropriate memorial service given their different cultural traditions. The two find they are transported aboard but immaterial, unnoticed by other Enterprise crew. Lo thinks they're dead, Geordi gradually works out, like Data aboard, they must be affected by a Klingon-type cloaking technology aboard the Romulan ship interfering with another damaged system. The Enterprise responds to a distress call from a Romulan ship and sends over a team to assist in repairing their engines. When La Forge and Ensign Ro attempt to beam back to the Enterprise, a power fluctuation leads to the loss of their transporter signal. Everyone assumes they are dead they are in fact on the ship but invisible to everyone. Ro also thinks they're dead and says goodbye to her colleagues. Geordi however believes they are out of phase due to an error with the Romulan cloaking device. Meanwhile, the ungrateful Romulans are planning to destroy the Enterprise - and Ro and Geordi aren't the only ones who are out of phase.- Written by garykmcd
