Aron Eisenberg considered this his most stressful episode considering the script called for his Ferengi character, Nog, to participate in social dancing, and he had no idea of how to do that convincingly. As it happened, Eisenberg improvised something suitable and was horrified that the director wanted to focus on him dancing as opposed to simply being part of a crowd. Regardless, he performed his clumsy creation and the whole cast and crew, plus the cast of Star Trek: Voyager (1995) invited to see the shooting, found it hilarious in a welcome fashion for the story and it was decided to edit the scene for greater prominence.

To ensure the right level of energy for the party scenes, director David Livingston staged an actual party, including live music. He did this because it meant the actors had to shout on-set to be heard, which added an air of realism to the scene.
