- Commander Sisko: So - this is how it all ends!
- Major Kira: For you.
- Commander Sisko: You know what disturbs me? The ingratitude. I offered you my kindness, my help, my leadership, and how do you repay me? With betrayal. But you won't get rid of me so easily. You see, unlike you, I understand history. My name will blaze across the stars long after your petty treacheries have been forgotten.
- Major Kira: But you won't be here to see it.
- Major Kira: How are you, Lieutenant?
- Lieutenant Jadzia Dax: You know what they say - put the shoe on the right foot first, but put the left foot first into the bathtub.
- Major Kira: [on Sisko's clock] You... really build that?
- Commander Sisko: Apparently so.
- Major Kira: Why?
- Commander Sisko: I have no idea.
- Odo: Are you finished with me?
- Doctor Bashir: Unless you'd like to pour yourself through my foretic analyzer. I'd love to see the results.
- Major Kira: [to Odo] Either we get a more reasonable commander from Starfleet, someone we can control - or we go it alone. With me running this place, you will be able to do what needs to be done. If you want to toss Quark out on his ears, toss him out. If you want to proclaim martial law on the promenade, proclaim it. This station will be yours to protect, with no interference.
- Doctor Bashir: Just don't be surprised if the uneasy alliance on this station starts to show a few cracks.
- Odo: What uneasy alliance?
- Doctor Bashir: Commander Sisko... and Kira. Mark my words, there's going to be trouble.
- Odo: The Klingon, Doctor, what did you find?
- Doctor Bashir: He's still dead, if that's what you mean.
- Major Kira: Jadzia, listen to me: I'm getting rid of Sisko, one way or the other. Don't force me to get rid of you as well.
- [last lines]
- Major Kira: I know that none of us was really responsible for our actions, but... I feel I owe you an apology.
- Commander Sisko: For attempted mutiny?
- Major Kira: Well... yes.
- Commander Sisko: I think we'll let it go - this time.
- [Quark walks in Odo's office, wearing a neckbrace, injured from Kira's assualt on him]
- Odo: Is this a Ferengi fashion I'm not aware of?
- Quark: [speaking in a reedy voice] Kira tried to tear my head off.
- [clumsily sits in a chair; groans]
- Quark: Oh! I wanna file charges.
- Odo: Tell me about it.
- Quark: I heard her plotting.
- Odo: [This catches Odo's attention] Go on.
- Quark: She tried to convince Dax to take her side against Sisko.
- [Tries to indicate with his body, but tweaks a sensitive part of his spine; Close-lipped moan]
- Odo: And did Dax seem persuaded?
- Quark: What difference does that make? I was attacked!
- Odo: Answer the question.
- Quark: I... I couldn't tell, she was on the fence.
- Odo: [begins to pace] Doesn't Kira's behavior seem out of the ordinary? And the others? At the staff briefing, Sisko was bored as if he couldn't be bothered running the station, and Bashir... when did he become so concerned about station politics...
- [He stops and looks at Quark, who leans away defensively if stiffly because of his neckbrace]
- Quark: [still speaking in a reedy voice] Don't look at me that way! I'm perfectly normal!
- Odo: [drily] Yes.. I suppose you are!
- Lieutenant Dax: I've been friends with Benjamin Sisko for many years. In many ways, he's like a son. Or a nephew. Some kind of close relative anyway.
- Quark: [Quark has been injured by Major Kira and is wearing a neck-brace; he angrily calls after a departing Odo] Odo? Odo! I WANT SATISFACTION!
- [first lines]
- Commander Sisko: Come ix.
- Major Kira: Commander, I just received word that a Valerian transport has requested permission to dock here at the station.
