Chief O'Brien anxiously awaits the arrival of his wife Keiko. She's coming back from a field trip on Bajor and Miles is worried about the active life of his pregnant wife. Meanwhile Quark has already returned from his trip to Ferenginar. He seems joyful, but than has a devastating message for Rom. He has been diagnosed with Dorek syndrome and is going to die in less than a week. When reality kicks in, Quark gets very depressed. What has he done with his life? He feels he is a nobody. Rom tries to cheer him up by predicting his desiccated remains will be worthwhile. Quark decides to try auctioning it off. Suddenly a huge bid comes on, he doesn't hesitate. Meanwhile Keiko's shuttle arrives and the news is not good. There has been an accident. To save her baby doctor Bashir was forced to transfer it to Kira's womb and it can't be put back.
