  • An ion storm causes a transporter mishap, beaming Kirk, McCoy, Scott and Uhura into a parallel universe where a ruthless Empire sits in place of their benevolent Federation and crewmen commonly advance in rank by assassinating their superiors. The foursome must switch back with their counterparts before they're killed and before the widening gap between universes makes it impossible. In their way: a treacherous Ensign Chekov, a scar-faced Sulu eager for the captaincy, and a bearded Mr. Spock with Empire orders to kill Captain Kirk at the next inexcusable display of mercy.
