Luke us taking some time off and is set on visiting his brother in Tuscon that also works at a stagecoach company. When he arrives he learns that his brother, Sam, is on the run from the law. They found the owner of the stagecoach company shot and his last words were 'Sam'. The sheriff thought Sam was the murderer. Sam fled the town fearing a lynch mob was after him. The sheriff issued a reward for Sam that included dead or alive.

However, word comes to Tuscon that the true killer of the owner had been arrested by a cavalry unit. The warrant is rescinded but word is slow to get out. For there is a bounty hunter named Mike Partee, that is on Sam's trail. Partee is one of those that shoots and asks questions later. And since word has not reached him, Partee is still wanting the reward money.

Luke decides to ride after Partee and his brother to tell both that the warrant no longer exist. When he tells Partee, he thinks Luke is covering for his brother. The rest of the story is a track through the desert as each is trying to be the first to find Sam.

Even though the story had some good moments, there was also a few that made the viewer scratch their head. An example was when Luke escaped through the ceiling of a town's jail with very little effort.. Another is to find that the bounty hunter was a poor shot when it came to other cowboys but could kill an Indian with the expertise of a sharpshooter. And when Luke does some doctoring on an older man with a severe chest wound, it is surprising that the man is up and about in minutes after being explored for a bullet. Even for a TV western, things just did not add-up in this episode.
