Devo Guest Stars

Muffy is having a new wave bat mitzvah and says that the current group Devo will perform.

Another very 80s and very funny episode. Patty, Lauren, Marshall and Johnny are not invited to the party until Devo has to cancel. She is forced to hire Johnny's band (now called Open 48 Hours) to play. Marshall gets to come also and he tells Muffy that Patty and Lauren must come too. Muffy's has a funny line saying they can come but cannot have a good time. Devo ends up coming anyway and sings a song "That's Good". Funny final scene as Johnny's band plays while everyone has left and the janitor is cleaning up. John Densmore of The Doors appears for the second time as Johnny's drummer.

Better ones but entertaining!

Warning: Spoilers
Better ones but still entertaining! Muffy's Bat Mitzvah is funny. Many a inside Jewish family humor if your are or have Jewish friends you will get it. Muffy's does not want to invite the two un popular gals to her Mitzvah, and New Wave legends Devo are coming. Everyone gets invited but Patty and her friend until Devo canceled and Johnny's band with Marshal get to perform if Patty and Lauren can go. Well, teenage anxiety is mixed with family drama at the Bat Mitzvah, but the best moments of humor is Johnny and grandma. Well Devo makes it and Johnny band gets to play when the calibration is over; well I get know why everyone hates Muffy she is so Valley gal self absorbed, which is another stereotype of a show of type casted characters which creates much of the character driven humor. This episode would have died but the Johnny character saves this one! 6 stars.

Trivia

Jerry Seinfeld can be seen in the background talking to a Rabbi in one of the first greeting scenes of the Bar Mitzvah.

Jamie Gertz & Tracey Nelson each guest starred on separate episodes of Seinfeld. Jamie was the girl who dated Jerry and also did sex calls to Kramer & couldn't spare a square of toilet paper. Tracey was in the episode where Jerry dated her and everyone thought that they looked alike.

Tracey guest starred on a episode of Jamie's sitcom "Still Standing" in the episode where Judy joins the PTA and she and Bill go to Tracey's character's house for a barbecue.
