The music makes it sad.SPOILER

Warning: Spoilers
Just saying the music makes it sad.

This episode is about Gary runs away because Spongebob forgets to feed him. The reason that Spongebob forgets to feed Gary is Spongebob wants to take a paddle ball contest. He has to hit the ball a lot of times in a row. So Spongebob forgets about Gary. When Spongebob notices Gary is gone Spongebob calls Patrick, But Patrick eats Gary's food. Then Spongebob tells Patrick to shake his belly to make the food have a noise. When Gary goes to a new city he finds another owner. The owner thinks Gary is a girl. His owner over feeds him. Then Spongebob puts up posters that say have you seen this snail. At the end Spongebob finds Gary.

This episode is not sad at all, but the music is the only reason this episode is even remotely sad.

A Very Sad Episode, But In A Good Way

Warning: Spoilers
I feel like a bunch of people are going to say this is a clone of the episode dumped, the plot is different though, its about SpongeBob losing Gary. Even if it was inspired by dumped that does not mean it is a bad episode. Anyways, I feel like the joke were SpongeBob is done looking for Gary and is very sad, then Patrick talks about seeing scented pinecones at the super market, where he also say Gary is badly timed. I also think that Gary left so soon. I should have been longer for Gary to have left, seeing that SpongeBob it not going to take care of him, but I think that there might have been that in the original script but it was cut for time maybe? The song adds to a already relatable plot showing just how much SpongeBob cares for Gary. The sad part is built up though, by showing him get sadder, and sadder, and lose hope, which I believe is good story telling.

This is hands down the best Spongebob episode. I love the emotion throughout the entire episode. I can relate to someone losing their pet. Oh and the song is fantastic.

Honestly I cannot comprehend how this is my favorite spongebob episode! If someone says "spongebob had no good episodes after season 3" JUST SHOW THEM THIS THEY WILL FINALLY SHUT UP!

The Song Gary come home is better than band geeks FIGHT ME this episode just somehow gets sadder and better the more I watch it definitely the best episode of spongebob, coming right out of my favorite season (season 4) Every single thing just works! THIS EPISODE IS BETTER THAN BAND GEEKS band geeks isn't as funny anymore the song is still good but I don't think it holds up quite like this episode the best 10/10..

Heartbreaking, Emotional, Funny Parts, and Perfect.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode brought tears to my eyes during the "Gary Come Home" song, and the jokes were incredible, the story felt real, the sadness was real, and it is just a rollercoaster. Highly recommend watching this episode. The song is incredible, one of the best in the whole SpongeBob SquarePants show, you feel bad for Gary at the start, then SpongeBob because he is so emotional. The scene during the song where he looked through his scrapbook and was crying, made me tear up, and nearly start to cry a lot. In conclusion, "Have You Seen This Snail?" is probably my favourite double length episode. It is absolutely fantastic, emotional, and powerful.
