- While Peter takes picture at a demonstration of a new laser technology at a Hardy's Foundation event, Doc Ock appears to create trouble as he claims that technology as his. Spider-Man shows up to fight Octavius, being at a moment almost defeated if it wasn't because Doctor Octopus attacked him using the new laser that happened to be programmed to hit only organic material so he isn't hurt, only his costume. During the fight, Doctor Octopus is followed by Spider-Man to a section where a lot of expensive stuff is kept. Spider-Man seems himself forced to save both Octavius and himself from a big explosion created by Octavius but the damage of the materials is used by the media to attack Spider-Man. Tired of being called a menace once and again when he was trying to do good, Peter decides to give up being Spider-Man. His friend Robbie gives Peter a fan letter just in case he sees Spider-Man, Peter receives it even when he says that very probably Spider-Man won't show his face in the town any time soon. Then, on the street, he is confronted by a weird mystical woman that calls herself Madame Web that seems to know he is Spider-Man and tells him that to win he must "have the faith of a child". After the experience of talking to Madame Web is over, a tarot letter she used while talking to Peter/Spider-Man transforms in the letter from the child he had first ignored.
Spidey then decides to take a visit to his fan, a little girl whose name is Taina and that has most (if not all) of the pictures that the media has ever published about Spider-Man and Spider-Man begins telling her his story...
