The Kingpin tries to break Spider-Man in two by using all his 350 pounds of muscle to crush him in a bear hug. He did the same move on Spider-Man in the previous episode Sins of the Fathers Chapter 12: The Spot (1996)
The scene where Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson walk in the park is similar to "The Amazing Spider-Man" (Vol. 1) #259, when the true story of Mary Jane Watson was told.
The Hobgoblin vs. Green Goblin fight is loosely based on a fight the two had in the "Goblin War!" story from "The Amazing Spider-Man" (Vol. 1) #312. In this series it's between Jason Phillip Macendale and Norman Osborn while in issue #312 it was a battle between Jason Phillip Macendale and Harry Osborn, who both were the 2nd to wear their respective costume identities.
This is the last appearance in the series of the second Hobgoblin.
The part of Lenny Luntz was written specifically for Carl Ballantine who is the father of Sara Ballantine, the voice of Mary Jane Watson. This was also Carl Ballantine's final TV project.
