This is the first Spider-Man to depict Dr. Curt Connors as an amputee who used himself as a test subject to try to regrow his limb with Lizard DNA.
When he was complaining about being in the sewers, Spider-Man saying, 'You wouldn't find the Fantastic Four, The Avengers, or even The Defenders in a sewer. Well, maybe the Hulk'. The Defenders were an un-team of misfit marvel super heroes with consisted of Dr. Strange, The Incredible Hulk, Namor The Sub-Mariner, and The Silver Surfer.
This is the first animated show to refer to the Connors family by their correct name. The 1967 cartoon incorrectly referred to their surname as "Connor".
This episode aired on as a special sneak peak on November 12, 1994 before the series made it's premiere in February 1995.
Comic writer Gerry Conway co-wrote this episode. Conway was a writer on Spider-Man comics for many years writing many memorable stories in "The Amazing Spider-Man" and was the first writer on "Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man".
