Cathy Lowington is the daughter of renowned conductor Matthew Lowington.
Unfortunately she is kidnapped from high school, Spenser shoots one of them dead.
Lowington fires him but Spenser wants Cathy back safe and sound. He manages to find out that the kidnapper who the son of a local gangster and he is Cathy's boyfriend.
When Spenser confronts both of them he is told that Lowington has abused his own daughter.
A rather dark and complex plot. It looks like Parker's novel was distilled for television.
You can sense just how precisely the kidnappers knew where Cathy would be at the school that it might have been an inside job.
Once again Hawk saves Spenser's life. It's only the sixth episode and I've lost count as to how often this has happened.
