Jordan needs to be friendly with a KGB agent Kamarov from Moscow. He needs to wine and dine him, Kamarov even wants to meet Jordan's girlfriend Charlotte.
It is all to do with a forthcoming visit of a Soviet minister to London and making the necessary security arrangements.
Kamarov has concerns about a young man called Peter Watson who is engaged to his Russian girlfriend. She has been denied an exit visa to leave Russia and marry Watson. In tun Watson has been a bit of a pest for several years towards the Russians.
Special Branch do not want to detain Watson for no reason but they want the minister to visit Britain. Watson is kept under surveillance to see if he poses a danger.
An episode that delves into the differences between Russian and British attitudes. It also allows Jordan's domestic life to be explored. Charlotte is not pleased to be taken for dinner with Kamarov but later invites him over for drinks at their apartment.
Once Kamarov sees Charlotte's impressive flat he implores Jordan to marry her immediately.
There is little action, more of a talky filler episode. When things get a bit heated between the Soviets and the British, Moxon is in hand with a suitable possible solution.
Interesting to ponder that the Russians would not allow their women to leave the country to get married and Jordan thought that was wrong.
10 years later when Margaret Thatcher got elected, her government passed immigration laws that made it difficult to bring foreign spouses over from abroad.
