Quotes

Young Jessica: Wait 'til you hear what I have to tell you...
Young Mary: I know what it is. Darlene Cooke goes all the way. Patty told me. Who cares?
Young Jessica: No, it's not that. It's something else that-Darlene Cooke goes all the way?
Young Mary: That's what Patty said.
Young Jessica: Who did she go all the way with?
Young Mary: Omega Delta. But Patty lies.
Young Jessica: Omega Delta? Is that a foreign student?
Young Mary: Jess, it's a fraternity, not a person.
Young Jessica: I see... well, Mary, that's good, huh? If she'd gone all the way with a person, she might have ended up preggers.

Episode 82 bids a sudden farewell to Jesse Welles as Gwen
17 May 2010 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

Episode 82,the second of five one-hour Monday broadcasts, begins with Danny and Chester undergoing successful surgery; he decides to ask Gwen to marry him,but she is reluctant due to a blackmailing mobster trying to gain inside information on "Bat" Campbell's fight against crime(this was the farewell appearance of pretty Jesse Welles). The newly celebrated "Bat" realizes his crazy family just won't look proper in higher circles(namely, dinner at the White House),and begins to alienate everyone.Jodie and Maggie prepare for their dawn execution by enjoying endless sex, only to be interrupted by a persistent Digger(Ralph Manza),who spent 25 years clawing his way into the next cell(Burt receives aid from Saunders in devising a plan to free them).Eunice tells Dutch their sex life hasn't been the same since their marriage, since it was so exciting when they were on the run from the law; they decide to do some play acting to spice things up by pretending to be a soldier with his married lover(The Major does not approve:"she's an officer's wife!") With her husband a virtual stranger preoccupied with fame, and her sister no longer speaking to her,Mary turns to alcohol for solace. We are treated to a flashback showing how she was sleeping with Chester, who suddenly announced his engagement to Jessica; since Chester's father had engaged in stock fraud, embezzling money from Jessica's mother(runs in the family),he was blackmailed into keeping his father out of jail by marrying Jessica, considered too "scatterbrained" to attract a husband. He admits to Jessica that, despite an arranged marriage,he soon grew to love her(which does offer up a reason why he'd started cheating on her during their honeymoon).
