Episode 37
kevinolzak27 April 2010
Episode 37 begins with Danny promising to deliver the ransom, once he speaks to the kidnapped Elaine.Eunice and Dutch arrive at his grandmother's deserted farmhouse, empty for ten years, complete with an outhouse in back.Detective Donohue is determined to find Chester, because he's fallen in love with Jessica and would rather "compete with a man than with a memory." The Campbells prepare for Jodie's wedding to Carol, and Mary fears that he'll move out and she'll never see him again(he says "Ma,I moved out months ago!") After a delay of several minutes,Jodie receives a note left by Carol, calling off the ceremony("we seem to be missing a bride...the flower girl offered to marry me,and her mother said no!")

It's another big celebration.

It's the day of Jodie's wedding to Carol, and everyone is keen to give him some marriage advice, Danny turns up, despite having to negotiate with his wife's kidnappers.

It's soap land, so of course it's her another wedding, lovely that the whole family is there to support, even in times of strife, only in Soap land would a wedding go ahead during a kidnapping.

Once again, I'm just surprised by how far advanced American attitudes were towards sexuality back in the 1970's, how refreshing, I can't think of any equivalent British show that was like it, instead it was just implied that characters were gay.

How lovely is it to see the actors behaving so naturally with one another, Jodie and Danny's pre ceremony scene was tremendous.

Poor Jodie. Please let Gloria Swanson return soon.

9/10.
