Storyline
When her boyfriend, jock Billy Durden, dumps gossip queen Dawn Stiles, a day before the Smallville High prom, the bitch which everybody expects to become Prom Queen, regardless of Chloe being entered (behind her back) as 'alternative', decides to go with Clark (who intended to stay home) instead. But while driving on the road, she crashes her car near the mother-load of meteoric green kryptonite, which causes her spirit to leave her dying body and enter someone else's body by a mere touch, starting with Martha Kent driving on the road, then Lana, and so on. Clark and Chloe try to figure out what's happening. Meanwhile, the corpse of Bridgette Crosby, of whom no official record exists, is found in Lex Luthor's garden. Lex keeps Jason at arm's length, who for once knows more about her mysterious death... and recovers the second Kryptonian stone in her possession. Written by

Trivia
When it is implied that Clark might take Lois to prom, Lois states that there would be men on Mars before Clark and her went to prom together. This is a tongue in cheek reference by the writers to John Jones, the Martian Manhunter who later becomes a reoccurring character on the show. Also Lois and Clark do end up going to prom together, sort of, as she is possessed by the spirit a prom crazed high school girl and not in control of her own body.

On the eve of Smallville High Prom, the bitch candidate to Prom Queen Dawn Stiles (Beatrice Rosen) crashes her car and falls off a cliff near to a pile of kryptonite. Her soul leaves her body and incorporates Martha Kent's, and sooner she realizes that she can switch bodies by any contact. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor finds the corpse of Bridgette Crosby in his property and Jason Teagues decides to call Sheriff Nancy Adams.
"Spirit" recalled Denzel Washington's "Fallen", with a spirit able to switch bodies by contact, and it is one of the best episodes of the Fourth Season of "Smallville". The relationship of Jason with his mother becomes clearer, and Lana Lang ends this episode closer to Clark. My vote is ten.
