Trivia:
When Clark breaks into Bart Allen's hotel room and goes through his wallet, he sees 3 IDs: Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, and Wally West. These were/are names of all the Flashes. Jay Garrick is the original WWII-era Flash (who sometimes watches over Bart), Barry Allen was the pre-80's Flash who died in "Crisis on Infinite Earths"(and Bart's grandfather), and Wally West was the Flash during the 2nd Crisis (and Bart's official guardian). Bart Allen himself has been known as Impulse, Kid Flash, and the Flash.See more »

Introducing Flash... er, Bart Allen, 5 December 2007
Author: Rcwilkinson123 from United States

The first DC Comics superhero besides Clark is in town in this great "Smallville" episode.

Clark and his father Jonathan are headed to the Sharks football game in Metropolis when a boy seemingly as fast as Clark steals Jonathan's wallet with the tickets, but saves him from getting hit by a car at the same time. Clark tries to discover who the boy is before they report the incident to the police. Clark finds Bart Allen, who uses his superspeed to steal others' things, including Jonathan's credit card for an apartment and living expenses. In fact, Bart has gone under other names such as Barry Allen or Wally West to conceal his thievery. Meanwhile, Lex, in his attempt to no longer be secretive but honest with Clark in an attempt to mend their friendship, shows Clark a 14th century manuscript from Russia, with in fact a map underneath that leads to an archive of unimaginable knowledge. Lex tells Clark that the Russian ruler Rasputin would spend hours looking at the manuscript, never able to find the map.

This episode is great for two reasons: first, that Clark meets another future superhero, and not just a meteor freak. Clark realizes that there are other people out there like him, and Bart's arrival reminds Clark that he does have a greater calling to to the gift of his abilities. Second, the map, containing Kryptonian symbols, leading to the mysterious archive of knowledge, is interesting.
