Storyline

When Lana is hit by an explosion of a gas pipeline in a field, she develops the power of clairvoyance from meteor-rock fragments where she has visions of an elusive serial kidnapper/killer and she sees Chloe Sullivan being kidnapped. Clark must rely on Lana's visions to find and rescue Chloe before she's killed. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor is visited by the despicable reporter Roger Nixon who convinces him to open again the investigation of the mysterious events surrounding the meteor shower of years ago when a witness reveals that something more came down during the meteor shower. Also, Clark ponders making plans to the school's spring formal dance by asking Chloe while Pete also as the same thoughts. Whitney tells Lana that he's thinking about leaving Smallville in the wake of his father's death. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Trivia

In previous episodes it is established that Clark and Chloe have known each other for years. However, in this episode Clark states they met in 8th grade. Given that they're freshmen - or possibly sophomores - this season they would have only known each other for a year to a year and a half. See more »

Goofs

Spelling mistake - on an Eddie Cole ad that reporter gives to Lex is spelled "NOTHING TO LARGE, NOTHING TO SMALL" when it should probably be "NOTHING TOO LARGE, NOTHING TOO SMALL". See more »

Quotes

Clark Kent: [after asking her to the spring formal] Chloe... I'm sorry I didn't ask sooner.
Chloe Sullivan: It's okay. It was worth the wait.

Build-up to Season's End
14 September 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

There are plenty of plot points that build up to the finale of the first season in this 20th episode.

In an accident, Lana awakes as a visionary. She can see a man hotly pursuing Chloe. These visions help Clark see the man's next move and save Chloe from disaster.

In addition, Whitney Fordman tells Lana that he is going to leave Smallville and join the army after his father's death. Clark contemplates asking Chloe to the spring formal, as does Pete Ross. Nagging reporter Roger Nixon works with Lex to continue the investigation of what came down from space in the meteor shower. Also, and most importantly, Dr. Hamilton discovers an octagonal-shaped piece of the spaceship in which Kal-El arrived on Earth, validating the questions that Lex and Nixon had had on extraterrestrial life having arrived that fateful day.

This is debatably the most suspenseful episode of the season leading to the finale.
