Martha Kent: [Jonathan is furious she accepted campaign financial aid from Lionel] I know nothing is black or white, especially in politics. If you win this election, you'll be able to help so many people who desperately need it. Please don't let your pride get in the way.

Crazed and Relentless Officer
1 December 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Somewhat of a spin-off story from the first episode of Season 5 arrives in fantastic and exciting fashion.

Lex is, again, in major trouble: his mansion has been locked down by a police officer who survived the attack of the Kryptonians Aethyr and Nam-Ek when they exited the jet-black spaceship. He knows that Lex has to have the ship. Lex hides in his secret panic room in his main office, as he and the officer realize they have a stalemate of bargaining. However, the officer gains the upper-hand when he tricks Lana into coming to the mansion. He knows that she also saw the aliens come out of the spacecraft and wipe out the police. In their time in the panic room, Lex and Lana come closer together. Lex, thinking his life is running short, is more honest about his feelings with Lana. Clark and Chloe are occupied by trying to discover where Lana could possibly be, leading to an exciting finish.

This episode is great for a variety of reasons: the really cool secret panic room in Lex's office; the storyline where Lex and Lana are alone together; Clark's fantastic save of Lana in Warehouse 15, where the ship used to be; and the fact that Clark saves Lana, but she has no idea. For all she knows, the only person who saved her in this instance was Lex. Clark realizes that Lana cannot truly appreciate all he does for her if she never knows the truth about him.
