The 9/11 terrorist attacks occurred during the filming of this episode. As all planes were grounded, Annette O'Toole (Martha Kent) had her husband Michael McKean drive to and from Vancouver and pick her up; it was during this car drive that the two composed the songs that would later show up in A Mighty Wind (2003), including "A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" which netted the couple an Academy Award nomination.
