Trivia

In Asteroid World, Albert Einstein refused to accept the moral responsibility of unleashing nuclear weaponry on world. He lied to U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, telling him that there was not enough nuclear fission in nature to create a nuclear explosion due to the Adiabatic Limit. Consequently, the United States was forced to invade Japan in 1945 and World War II lasted until 1950. Einstein's bomb prototype became a museum piece labelled "Einstein's Folly." See more »

Goofs

Arturo says that the explosion of the nuke will not be visible immediately due to the delay caused by the finite speed of light and the distance between the asteroid and the earth. However, the sight of the rocket colliding with the asteroid itself is delayed by a similar period of time. A visible explosion should have followed a visible collision immediately. See more »

In this episode, the team slides into a dimension where a massive asteroid will slam into the earth in two days. The team is not scheduled to slide again for three days. This asteroid, named Yeoman 2956, is so large that the earth will be destroyed. For months, scientists have been searching for a solution. The Professor attends one of their news conferences and a wild looking young man interrupts the conference by shouting to the scientists that a nuclear bomb could destroy the asteroid. He is coldly told that such a bomb is not possible as Einstein proved. Knowing that nuclear bombs are indeed possible, the Professor meets the young man, Bennish, and together they work on developing a detonator for the A bomb. At the same time, Sabrina and Quinn return to his house of this dimension and try to get the slider mechanism to activate earlier than the three days. It's interesting how people react to what they think will be their last day on earth - some participate in wild partying and some go to church; Rembrandt does both but ends up in church. The Professor and Rembrandt characters are the most interesting and vivid characters in the show. Even though the episode has huge plot gaps, it's just plain fun to watch.
