Could it be...Satan?
stones7818 September 2013
This episode, though poorly edited, has a different subject matter than the usual psychic visions, as this one revolves around an odd lot of devil worshipers. The segment starts with a very creepy picture of Satan sitting on his throne, and I don't mean the toilet, while grinning in an evil manner. I noticed a few familiar faces, mainly because of their roles in Columbo, and they are Frank Converse(Perry Singleton), and Paul Stewart(Dr. Adamson); it's also nice seeing Percy Rodrigues(Sgt. Bruckner)make an appearance, as he has decent chemistry with Dr. Rhodes. One sister's in the hospital for whatever reason, but she has visions of her sister being carved up in a dark ritual with those wearing those famous satanic hoods, and wearing these silly golden earrings. Converse is especially good as both charming and sinister, and I had to chuckle when he says to the abducted sister, "you been a bad girl" after she tried to escape. My only real qualm was how easy Perry and his merry band of weirdos were located with only a few clues to go on, but I still enjoyed most of the show.

What Could Have Been...

How much better could this series have been had they included Percy Rodrigues' character from the very beginning? In this episode, Rodrigues plays a steet-wise cop with a mastery of the five conventional senses. Partnered with Gary Collins' Dr. Rhodes, the pair make quite a formidable mystery/crime solving duo. And the two actors show great chemistry working together.

Looking ahead, it appears that Rodrigues will be in a couple more episodes, so I will be looking forward to those. But again, I do wonder if this series could have been more successful had Rodrigues' character been a staple of the show from the very beginning.
